ISI (Intercollegiate Studies Institute) made a test to proof the knowledge of American politicians about USA. There were 33 questions and 2,5 Thousends participants. The results were stunning. Just 44% of right answers. The politicians knew very little not only about the history and geography of their country but also about topics that are essential to govern it like economics and constitution. 40% believed that the president has the right to declare war while in reality this only can be decided by the congress. Another question was: „which two countries were the enemies of USA in the second world war“. 31% has chosen countries like: England and Canada!
Interesting🙂 If the leading heads of America know so little about their own country imagine their knowledge about the rest of the world! I don´t know if it´s true but I heard in the news that Polin had to be told that Africa is not a country but a continent.
That´s a curious thing that people who influence the world more than anybody else know so little about it.
Some funstuff here:
I was loughing a lot reading it. But still such verbal lapses are somehow very sweet, don´t you think?
And here a small teaser:
“I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe – I believe what I believe is right.“
Bush, Rome, 22 July, 2001
and another one:
„And truth of the matter is, a lot of reports in Washington are never read by anybody. To show you how important this one is, I read it, and [Tony Blair] read it.“
On the publication of the Baker-Hamilton Report, Washington DC, 7 December, 2006
„For a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times.“
